TWAP Would Like To Thank You!

We've done it! We've reached our goal. Thanks so much to all of you that donated and came to the bake sales or bar nights! This has been fantastic! TWAP has raised $10,808.81! That's $8.81 over our goal so far!

It's still not too late to make a donation to Moveable Feast by supporting Team With A Purpose! We're still two days away from our 2-day, 140-mile bike ride!

Thanks again!

We Hope You Enjoyed The Baked Goods!

Team With A Purpose (We're Full Of It!) would like to thank everyone for coming out to the bake sales. Our last one was Saturday, May 9, 2009 and it was our most successful yet. Over $1100 raised for the clients of Moveable Feast! Remember, the members and friends of Team With A Purpose donated all the ingredients and baked these goods at home themselves so all the money you spent at the bake sales went to Moveable Feast.

Our bake sales raised more than $4500 for Moveable Feast. Our 2 nights at Max's on Broadway also raised over $1100! We can't thank you enough for that!

If you'd like to know more about Moveable Feast, the Ride For The Feast or Team With A Purpose(TWAP) feel free to leave a comment here. It will go directly to our team captain, Pete. Just make sure to let us know if you want to be kept informed about all three or any particular one.

If you're thinking about doing the ride next year, you should consider joining TWAP and you can be full of it next year!

While our bake sales are over, our fundraising still continues. This Saturday morning, May 16, we take off on our first day of riding. 100 miles! Sunday is another 40 miles! All to raise funds and awareness for Moveable Feast. Unfortunately, our bake sales and bar nights haven't quite raised enough funds. We're still about $1200 away and we could use your help!

If you'd like to make a donation to Moveable Feast and support the efforts of Team With A Purpose, just click here! 100% of you donations will go directly to client services at Moveable Feast! The ride is completely supported by donations so there is no overhead for Moveable Feast. Please consider helping us reach our goal!

Thank you!

Poem For A Rider

Poem For A Rider
Originally uploaded by jpete
Last year our ride coordinator, Rebecca, read a poem that was sent by a supporter. Unfortunately, I didn't catch the first couple lines of the poem on the video but Rebecca supplied the full text.

Tap into your inner cycle monkey;
your inner churning, grinding, hammering steam engine of pure forward momentum;
your bike zombie of destruction.
Tap into the smoldering asphalt smoker and leave more road behind you than ahead of you.
Make your feet go around in circles more happily each minute,
and more efficiently each revolution.
Enjoy the unhindered view as you swing your gaze from apex of the sky, to the ground right in front of your wheel, back up on the other side all the way back to the top of the sky.
No blind spot.

Appreciate the cute ass of some other rider.
Laugh over something totally trivial and totally hilarious with a stranger or new friend.
Love the blisters.
Pretend each small thing you see is an omen of some coming calamity or windfall.
Make up hobo names for all your friends
except me, since I already have a hobo name - Bigfoot Yancey.
Take the hours on the bike as an opportunity to relearn that joy comes from gratitude,
not the other way around.
